Adobe Colour Working Space
It is important to make sure all images that you work on have an embedded profile. Photoshop has a colour settings panel that determines how the software will colour manage your files. Once set, your file can be converted successfully from one profile to another without a loss of quality. So you can capture in SRGB, convert to an Adobe 98 Workspace and then convert to a CMYK printing profile without losing information.
At Metro we use settings common throughout the photographic industry. This short guide walks you through setting up your Photoshop software so that you are colour managing your files in the same workspace as the lab.
Mac Settings:
In Photoshop go to Edit > Colour Settings
In
Settings
choose
Custom
from the drop down menu.
In
Working Spaces
for RGB choose
Adobe RGB (1998)
for CMYK choose
US Web Coated (SWOP) v2
.
If you would like to check the profile of a file you can always see it at the bottom of the document.
