Installing profiles for softproofing

Metroprint has all the best colour management that comes from 30 years of running a professional lab. You may find that softproof profiles are not necessary for your prints: the best way to find out is to download our test image and compare it to your screen.  Alternatively, test your images for colour accuracy by ordering a test print.

If you would like to find out which profile to use, our Technical Help calculator is a handy way to decide which profile to download. You will find the Technical Help calculator in the top right of every Technical Help page. You will find profiles under each individual paper in Printing here.

Downloading your chosen profile

You will find all the profiles for our papers in the Printing section underneath the paper description.

Library Folder

Installing profiles in Photoshop for OS X 10.7 Lion

Unfortunately Apple have made it somewhat more complicated for Lion users to install colour profiles on their computers by making the Library folder hidden by default.
This can cause problems for various programs that deal with profiles (such as calibration software) as they cannot find the folder and thus the profiles needed.
To install profiles you are going to need to permanently unhide the Library folder using the terminal command prompt which is found in Applications>Utilities>Terminal

On launching Terminal a small window will appear with some plain text

This is what is known as a command prompt and may look somewhat daunting to many users (although older computer users may well feel right at home!), but don't worry - what we are about to do is very simple!
Into this window type: chflags nohidden ~/Library as per the image below. Enter the system administrator password if prompted for it.

Well done! you have now done some "proper computing" by entering code!
You will now be able to find the Library folder as per the instructions for OS X versions prior to Lion as detailed above.
