Metroprint provide prizes for LOOK/15 competition at Liverpool International Festival of Photography

‘Your important place’ is a photography competition running in conjunction with LOOK/15 Exchange Festival via online photo community Photocrowd.

Asking the question ‘What makes a place important?’ the competition theme is looking for images representing important places. Not only famous recognisable landmarks but the many personal memories evoked when visiting somewhere close to our hearts. This connects with LOOK/15’s screening of the moving art film, The View From Our House by Anthea Kennedy and Ian Wiblin

Anthea Kennedy and Ian Wiblin will select two competition winners from the entries after the Photocrowd online votes have been cast. Prizes include a 12”x6” print for each winner from us at Metroprint, book vouchers from publishers Dewi Lewis plus inclusion in a winners' gallery on the LOOK/15 website during the Liverpool International Photography Festival.

This year’s LOOK/15 theme is ‘Exchange’ featuring three primary components: women, migration and memory. Whilst each of these provides strong individual elements an important facet of the festival is the interplay between the various exhibitions. Most of the work has more than one reference point or story – and these often overlap or pick up where another has left off.  This creates conversations between the exhibitions, which has led LOOK to programme events that further engage these discussions.

LOOK is a non-profit making company celebrating every facet of photographic practice. The first festival took place in 2007 in both Manchester and Liverpool however the first biennial Liverpool International Photography Festival was held in 2011 representing the North as a whole and now in it’s third edition it has gained a reputation for quality work, strong partnerships and a platform for photographic artists. Audiences are invited to engage, view and take part in exhibitions and activities designed to improve access to the arts, develop skills and encourage cultural understanding, in environments that allow people to view and create work in one of the world’s most photogenic, international cities.

Festival dates: 15th- 31st May  2015
